Chiang Mai was an amazing city. The markets were fantastic. This market is the Sunday Night Market and it was incredible. It seemed to go on forever and the food was great. There were loads of crafts, artwork, and food made in the region. There were barely any foreigners which was wonderful.

It is difficult to follow the tourist path without eating the tourist "Westernized-Thai food" and finding goods that are made solely for tourists.. Chiang Mai is a great town to get away from that. We found markets outside of the main tourist areas where we were the only westerners around. Nobody spoke English and none of the signs were in English. This is where we found the best Thai food we've had. It was a great experience.

Can you tell us what exactly a banana pancake is? You seem to be hooked. Are they sweet or savory...a staple or a treat?

Dude - isn't that a tourist right in the middle of the photo? Maybe 3 metres from you.

I remember going to a market with our cooking instructor and of course, the pig heads caught our attention. We didn't eat or touch any though. Sounds like you're doing great. I'm taking my motorcycle to Arizona this week. Back in Msla next week. Glad you're having fun.

I'm SO envious. Chiang Mai is also the city where I found probably the best thai massage salons - don't leave that town without getting at least one!

"anonymous dude"- yeah.. it appears there is a tourist in this photo of the Sunday Night Market. Are you suggesting that I am lying about the makeup of this market and that there are in fact loads of tourists around because of the tourist in this photograph?

Or are you just saying, "hey dude, there's a tourist in the picture.. wow"?

Chiang Mai is loaded with foreigners and tourists.. but as I said, at this particular market "there were barely any foreigners which was wonderful"
