I booked my ticket from Missoula to Bangkok on June 11th with the intention of finding the best flight times, seats, etc. I found a ticket on Orbitz with EVA Airways for a very reasonable price ($1,030) so I booked it, selected my exit-row/window seats for the 13 hour flights (seattle-tapei) and good seats on the other flights. (missoula-seattle and tapei-bangkok)

So I figured I was set for my departure on September 30th... that was before I decided to double check my itinerary on Orbitz. I found out that some of my flights had been cancelled and I had been booked on alternative flights with 24+ hour layovers in Seattle and Tapei.

To make a long story short, I worked everything out and I now have the following itinerary. As for my seats.. I will be sandwiched in the middle section of a 747 between two fat farang pedophiles.

Check out the stars in the southern hemisphere. I would love to see them! We are so familiar with our own night sky - it may seem very odd.

Well, check out the stars close to the southern hemisphere! Once you get away from the big cities you should lose the "light pollution" and have a darker sky with brighter stars. Remember your Dad's story of navigating by the stars last winter ("almost" lost at sea). At least he knew what hemisphere he was in!

hello, your travels are inspiring. I'm currently planning my round the world expedition, taking off from maryland and i have one question - can you tell me a little more about the costs and capabilities of the blackberry you have. i'm planning a nine-month trip through s. east asia and eastern europe and would love to have a way to be perpetually in-touch. thanks.

Blackberry did not work well.. I ditched it at MBK and got a different phone. Motorola Sliver.. (btw- MBK is a giant shopping complex in Bangkok and the 4th floor has loads of phone shops where you can trade, buy, or sell)
